Festive Cocktail Recipe - Crème Brûlée
Ok, woah!
This dessert cocktail is pretty flipping special.
We spent a bit of time developing this one, as initially we were using baileys as the primary spirit, but it just tasted too much like, well, Baileys (surprise surprise), and not really like a Crème Brûlée.
I mean yes it was creamy and delicious, but the actual Crème Brûlée flavour was just not quite there. So, we raided the spirits and then I suddenly remembered that I had the perfect ingredient chilling in the fridge – advocaat!
I know I know, you hear advocaat and you immediately think we’ve travelled back several decades in time, but I think advocaat is a seriously underrated superstar.
So, off we go again, experimenting with the flavours, and this time, we’ve got it!
Crème Brûlée lovers, this one’s for you!
The sugared rim and toffee garnish isn’t essential but does give the cocktail a really special feeling and creates a lot of drama.
Crème Brûlée Christmas Cocktail Recipe
Serves: 1
INGREDIENTS
50ml Advocaat
25ml White Chocolate Liqueur
25ml Vanilla Vodka
25ml double cream
Ice
Sugar & honey (to sugar the rim)
Garnish: toffees (to make toffee decorations - I used the soft Werther’s)
INSTRUCTIONS
First, make the toffee decorations. Lay a piece of baking paper onto a baking tray. Next, carefully melt toffees in a microwave, removing and mixing every 10-20 seconds so as not to overdo it. Using a spoon, drizzle caramel over a piece of non-stick baking paper to make the decorations as pictured. Freeze.
Next, dip the rim of the glass in honey and then into sugar, all the way around.
Add the advocaat, white chocolate liqueur, vanilla vodka, double cream and a handful of ice to a cocktail shaker.
Shake thoroughly for around 15 seconds.
Strain into the glass, garnish with toffee decoration and serve.
